Trump Putin call: CIA 'helped stop Russia terror attack'

Data gave by the CIA helped Russian security administrations thwart an assault on St Petersburg's Kazan church, the Kremlin says.

The assault was supposedly intended to happen on Saturday, authorities say.

In a telephone call, President Vladimir Putin expressed gratitude toward Donald Trump for the CIA's intercession, the Kremlin said.

Mr Putin disclosed to Mr Trump that Russia's uncommon administrations would hand over data on fear dangers to their US partners, it included.

Russia's FSB security benefit said in an announcement on Friday that it had confined seven individuals from a cell of Islamic State supporters and grabbed a lot of explosives, weapons and radical writing.

The cell was intending to do a suicide assault at a religious foundation and kill nationals on Saturday, the FSB articulation said (in Russian).

The gathering was planning blasts focusing on the basilica and other open places in Russia's second city, the Kremlin explanation said.
